I am Taher Al-Sahhaf, the Dean of College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University. I welcome you to the home page of our college, and hope that you will find it useful for your purpose of exploring these pages.

Since its establishment in 1975, the College of Engineering & Petroleum at Kuwait University has consistently been a leading college in this part of the world. Quality education has been our primary concern. The College was the first to invite ABET to review its programs outside the continental United States. All of our engineering programs have been accredited by ABET.

Through a rigorous scholarship program and a very selective recruitment procedure, the number of faculty is now over 200. Within few years, we expect the number of faculty to reach 230. More than 95% of the faculty obtained their PhD degrees from top US research universities. Our faculty is dedicated to engineering teaching and research. Our undergraduate students are selected from among the top students in their high schools in the country. The research is heavily supported by the research unit at the University and the outside funding continues to grow. Engineering consultations to the government and private sectors are also expanding which provides the faculty with an opportunity to interact with the industry.

We are progressively increasing the use of technology to support learning and teaching. We have adopted a continuous improvement process which involves all constituencies at different levels. Faculty, students, alumni and employers are taking active roles in assessing the quality of engineering education and providing valuable feedback to improve the learning environment. Our faculty and students are excited about this venture and the college is dedicated to provide all the needed support.
